What is A1C?
Understanding A1C
A1C (also called HbA1c or glycated hemoglobin) is a blood test that measures your average blood sugar levels over the past 2-3 months. Unlike a regular blood sugar test that shows your level at one moment, A1C gives a long-term picture of your glucose control.
Why It Matters
A1C is the gold standard for diagnosing diabetes and monitoring treatment. It helps you and your doctor understand how well your diabetes management plan is working and whether adjustments are needed.
